Mrs. Gatti’s Gourmet

Friday, Aaron and I tagged along with his parents to the opening of a new bakery in League City – Mrs. Gatti’s Gourmet. Mrs. Gatti is an old friend of the Bunkers and Mr. Gatti has been cutting my MIL’s hair for years. Aaron’s parents asked if we were interested in tagging along and for future reference, when there will be free desserts, I am there. It’s located in the historic area of League City…the cutest part of that town. It’s in a little house slightly tucked away off of Main. It’s nestled next to a snow cone stand so you could grab a snow cone and a cupcake on your trip. And need I remind you? It’s local.

They had a spread for testing out the different cakes. These rum cakes were delish! My favorite was the vanilla rum cake. I’m drooling now just thinking about it. Hallelujah. Amen. Thank ya Jesus.

She also sells beer bread mix. It was funny to us because just last weekend Aaron make a couple of loaves of beer bread. That stuff is gooooood!

I snuck some beer bread samples.

We left with a quartet of cupcakes: apple, wedding cake, cookies & cream, and key lime. They were all good but the apple is my favorite.

If you’re in or around League City you should stop by, say hi, and grab yourself (or me) a cupcake. (I like the vanilla rum cake. Thank you.)

I am in love with a local cupcake shop in my hometown. They have the best red velvet cupcakes and just about every other flavor you could imagine! These looks incredibly delicious too. I'm curious about to see what the apple and wedding cake cupcakes taste like :)

Debbie is my daughter and I have to tell you she has ALWAYS loved to cook. She was trying when she was 2 or 3 years old. I have a picture of her somewhere at that age on a chair in my kitchen. She got up before we did and got out my sugar, flour and whateve else she thought she needed and was mixing away. Of course it was all over the floor and everywhere else. ;) For Christmas we got her an Easy Bake oven. She wore it out.

Go forward a few years. After retiring from NASA, she really got into baking and cooking other things. Her rum cakes are wonderfully good, but these cupcakes are beyond belief. Not only are they beautiful, but the taste is unbelievable – both the cupcake AND the frosting. And so many flavors! You won't be disappointed if you try them. In fact, I'm sure you'll be going back again and again.
