In my second installment of Embrace the Camera I mentioned how it was a sad week because my friends’ mom had passed away. I grew up with Kelli as a big figure in my life; She was my pastor’s wife, my friend’s mom, and the day care director when my sisters were in day care. She was one of the sweetest, kindest, funniest ladies I’ve ever known.
When I found out back in May that she had cancer and how serious it was I was in shock. Because I work with her daughter-in-law, Jaclyn, and I was constantly getting updates throughout her six month battle, I felt like I was right there in it with them. I was constantly praying for her and for the McDuff family…a family I hold very dear to my heart. I was driving when I got the news that she had passed away and had to pull over because I was in such shock. It was such a sad, sad day and my heart was so broken for my friends and there hasn’t been a day that goes by that I don’t think about Kelli.
Her funeral was that same Thursday as EtC and it was the most beautiful, sweetest funeral I have ever been to. It was such a celebration of her life and an incredible testimony as to how one life can effect so many people…evidence in the standing room only packed church. I can’t even put into words how amazing it was. Sure, we were sad that she isn’t here any more but we couldn’t help but rejoice that she is in Heaven with our precious Jesus, completely healed.
The garage sale and silent auction was planned a few months ago as a fundraiser for Kelli’s cancer treatment. Since she passed away it has grown into a memorial fundraiser to help cover the medical costs from her cancer treatment so her family doesn’t have to focus on that.
For the silent auction Belvedere Photography has donated a family photo session that includes a 60 minute on-location shoot, 1 8×10, 1 5×7, and 1 high resolution digital image. Plus, 20% of proceeds made from print sales from this item will go directly back into the fund to help the McDuff family. So, if you’re interested in taking family photos for the holidays or just for fun come and check out the silent auction and help out one of the most amazing families I have ever known. There has been so much love and attention going into planning this event that I hope that you might take some time out of your day to come check it out.
