Jo Totes Remix

One of my favorite gifts this Christmas was this Jo Totes camera bag. I’ve been desperate for a decent, fairly large camera bag. And I preferred a cute one that could disguise itself as a purse. My camera bag inventory consisted of the square Nikon bag that came in the kit when I bought  my DSLR and a small, gray, mannish messenger bag I purchased from Best Buy because I needed a quick fix for something I could throw over my shoulders on a trip to DC.

In all of my blog reading I discovered Jo Totes and was positive that this was exactly what I was looking for. When I was asked what was on my Christmas list I directed everyone to Jo Totes. I squealed on Christmas morning when I opened a large package and found their Rose bag in bronze. In less than a month of owning this bag it has become one of my absolute essential items – second to coffee and chapstick.

After using my beloved Jo Tote for a short while I thought it would be fun to show you the different ways I have used my new gem. I carry it everywhere and decided to do a little “remix” to show you how I organize, store, and carry my items.

*Note: Since I had to use my DSLR camera in the examples, these shots were taken with my point & shoot camera.

 The Photographer

1.Battery pouch / 2.Flash difuser / 3.Wallet / 4.Business Cards / 5.Phone / 6.Camera body + 35mm lens / 7.User manual / 8.Flash / 9.Memory card storage / 10.18-55mm lens / 11.55-200mm lens

The Everyday

1.Accessories pouch (where I keep my purse “nick nacks”) / 2.ipad (case from here) / 3.Phone / 4.Camera body & 35mm lens / 5.35mm lens / 6.Business cards / 7.Mini notebook (where I jot down EVERYTHING) / 8.Wallet

The Traveler

1.Camera battery charger / 2.18-55mm lens / 3.35mm lens / 4.Camera body / 5.ipad (case from here) / 6.MacBook / 7.MacBook charger / 8.ipad charger / 9.My Passport hard drive / 10.Memory card case

And because I know you’re probably thinking, “The bag looks so full it probably won’t zip!” here is proof that this bag doubles as a Mary Poppins bag and will zip up. It also comes with an over-the-shoulder strap for when it gets hefty when you’re doing serious hauling.

I’m so happy with my new bag that I’m planning on purchasing a few more in different styles & colors whenever I have some extra cash to spend. Since I carry my camera and laptop/ipad around almost everywhere this is a great solution…and it’s stylish! It’s important to be cute, duh!

Want one? Buy it from here.

Note: I was not compensated for this post. I just really like my new bag.

  • Julie - I am so jealous! I've been wanting a Jo Totes bag for a while now! And I can't believe they fit that much either. Just confirms that I will HAVE to buy one 🙂 ReplyCancel

  • Kim - Love your bag! When I got my camera last year, I just got a standard camera bag from the camera shop…green, big, bulky. Kinda looks like a backpack? I thought I wouldn't care. Cut to summer and walking around DC with the ugly thing, ha! The only thing nice about it is I am able to put it over my shoulder and carry it across my chest. Does this bag fit comfortably on your shoulder? Also, {just to make this comment a little longer, ha!} do you pull out your dslr wherever you go? I would love to, not a big fan of my camera phone, but would feel a little silly. Maybe I just need to get over myself? 🙂 ReplyCancel

  • Barbie S - I haven't heard of this brand! I'll have to scope. I'm loving my Kelly Moore bag and I got ANOTHER one for Christmas making me feel very overwhelmed and kind of in shock. I love your photos of the 'layouts' for different purposes 🙂 I plan to use my larger Mimi bag to sneak burgers, fries, and shakes into a movie. S'gonna be epic. ReplyCancel

  • Maddy - Loving the new camera bag!! That's exactly how I felt when I got mine. I think it's time for a new one ;o) ReplyCancel

  • Lauren - Hi! I love this post – thanks so much for sharing all the info! I just got a DSLR this past summer, and a 35mm f/1.8 for Christmas! I'm a happy girl. 🙂 I just bought a basic, small bag from Best Buy but now I've sent this link to my folks and hope it will be my bday present next week. So again, thanks for sharing.

Question – what do you do with multiple memory cards? I get the "if I run out of room" thing – but is there a method or organizational aspect to it too? Do you shoot personal things on 1 card and work things on another? ReplyCancel

  • Lauren - And love your blog! Forgot to mention that part 🙂 ReplyCancel

  • Torie - Thank you! I have gone through every website for every “stylish” camera bag designer, and I have read blog after blog looking for hard evidence that my macbook could fit in the Rose bag. I love the look, variety of colors, and price, but if my laptop wouldn’t fit that would be a deal breaker. I was just deciding I’d have to settle for something else when I found your blog. I am ordering my bag as soon as I’m done typing this! Thanks for the remix.ReplyCancel

  • April woodfin - Love my Jo Totes Rose Bag. Thank you for this. I struggled with how to fit the dividers inside and this helped me a lot! I wanted a pretty feminine bag and it fits the bill. So versatile.ReplyCancel
