Easiest DIY Essential Oil Foaming Hand Soap

I have the easiest DIY for you today! Like, you will be like, “Why haven’t I been doing this all along! It’s so healthy and CHEAP!” Or at least that’s what I was saying.

For a long time, I’ve slowly been implementing more wholesome products into our house. Once the news hit that antibacterial soaps would be banned, I stopped putting off making my own soap. It’s what kicked me into gear to just do it. And guys, it is so freaking CHEAP to make your own soap! I’ve already said it twice and all caps-ed “CHEAP.” It’s cheap. Especially if you own the starter kit from Young Living because it comes with so many oils at a crazy discounted price! I will never go back to buying pre-made soap.

First, let me show you what you need and how to make it and then we’ll break down the cost.

Here’s what you need:
A foam pump
Castile Soap
Vitamin E oil (optional)
Purification EO
Thieves EO

And watch this video to see how to make it:

Yay! Now you know how to make it! And because I’m so excited about how easy this is and how cheap it seems to be, I wanted to break down the cost to settle the bet and prove it. Let’s do some math, shall we?

Foam Pump – recycled from our last soap (booyah!)
Dr. Bronners Castile Soap – $12 on Amazon because I was lazy and didn’t want to go out. But you could totally find it cheaper!
Vitamin E Oil (optional) – $8 (I’ve had this one for a while and plan to research which brands have the best quality)
Purification – $25 (or cheaper as a part of your Young Living starter kit)
Thieves – $14.50 (also cheaper as a part of your Young Living starter kit)

Let’s break it down now:

Dr. Bronner’s Castile Soap
16oz = $12
1-2tsp for this DIY, 6tsp in 1oz, 16oz x 6tsp =96
48-96 bottles of soap based on 1-2tsp
$12/48-96 = $.13-.25 per bottle

Vitamin E Oil (Optional)
4.8oz = $8
About 1/4tsp for this DIY, 6tsp in 1oz, 4×6=24 uses in 1oz, 24×4.8=115.2
115.2 uses based on 1/4tsp in each bottle
$8/115.2=$.07, roughly per bottle

Now, on to the essential oils.

Purification Essential Oil
15ml = $25, 250 drops
$25/250 = $.10 per drop
5 drops = $.50

Thieves Essential Oil
5ml = 14.50, 100 drops
$14.50/100 = $.14 per drop
5 drops = $.70

However, the oils were much cheaper for me because they came in my starter kit. If you think you may be interested, let me know and I will gush about how this was one of the best things I’ve ever bought. 😉

All in all, the total for this DIY soap is less than what I could buy in a store and it’s completely safe and naturally antibacterial!

Have you made your own soap before? This would be a perfect time to try. Plus, the Purification and Thieves combination smells like Thanksgiving. Sighs and smiles.
